Chemical & Pharma Industry

The chemical and Pharmaceutical industry consumes significant amount of nitrogen both gaseous as well as liquid state for various applications. The pharmaceutical Industry also uses nitrogen in packaging and avoiding fire and explosions as well as ensuring fire safety in activities where fine dispersed substances are used. Nitrogen serves as an inert replacement for air where oxidation is undesirable.

Airgases Projects can provide to the industry custom designed Nitrogen generators based on cryogenic technology which can produce both liquid and gaseous high purity nitrogen required for various applications. Alternatively we can also provide Nitrogen plants based on PSA / membrane technology where volume of gases required is rather low and high purity nitrogen is not essential. Our team can also offer cryogenic liquid storage, pumping and vaporisation ( SPV) systems where liquid nitrogen is purchased from external sources . The liquid thus purchased is stored in special cryogenic storage tanks and used by customer. Wherever gaseous nitrogen is required then the liquid is pumped to required pressure or directly supplied through pressurised tank and vaporised to near ambient temperature before being used by customer for its applications.

Some application examples:

Gaseous nitrogen application for inerting and purging

  • Blanketing / padding of products sensitive to oxidation
  • Dry-seal inerting of compressors
  • Explosion prevention by inerting
  • Monomer storage
  • Pipeline purging
  • Pneumatic transport of powders
  • Polymer drying
  • Pressure transfer of liquids

Liquid Nitrogen application for cooling purpose

  • Reaction mass in reactors
  • Airgases Projects team assist customers with the definition of the specific MOC (Maximum Oxygen Content) required for safe handling and storage of product. We also can simulate the exact residual oxygen presence in tank / reactor / storage room at varying purities of the supplied nitrogen with our software and recommend most suitable system.
