The core competence of Process design group at Airgases Projects is to provide most competitive process plant solution to a given requirement specified by the customer. One of mandate of this group is to select and assimilate the basic process knowhow provided by technology provider which will enable Airgases Projects to deliver plants which meets or exceeds customer's requirements while ensuring delivery on-time and as per contract specification.

Detail engineering
The detailed engineering group is responsible to convert basic process design of the plant in to a well-engineered plant in a cost competitive manner meeting all requirements set by customer and respective agreed design codes. This group ensures that the detail design of plant is carried out in accordance of technical specification set by technology provider, technical specifications stipulated by customer or PMC as the case may be as well as requirements set by major equipment suppliers. The group is mandated to review all design documentation provided by vendors to ensure it meets requirements set by basic technology provider as well as technical specifications stipulated by the customer.
The detail engineering group is led by one of most experienced person in India in detailed design of Air Separation plants assisted by skilled equipment design engineers, piping design engineers, rotating machine specialists, E&I engineers and control engineers. The team will ensure all inter discipline co-ordination as required is undertaken.

The 3D mechanical design modeling software provides functional packaging, piping flexibility and static/dynamic analysis, which produces very efficient designed plants. Each of our plant is built to the highest standards of reliability and efficiency.
Our state-of-the-art process simulation software insures optimized plant performance design, maximizes overall plant efficiency, and improves process design flexibility. The Control system includes the operator's console, the control logic equipment and the instrumentation. The major components include the PC and/or PLC control and a functional, friendly HMI design that allows for unattended and remote monitored operation of the plant.
The team uses various modern software in undertaking the design and engineering work such as 3D modeling, Hysys, AutoCAD, PVElite and Caesar etc.
One of key driver to deliver plant at competitive pricing from Airgases Projects is its own in-house manufacturing facility which operates under the name KaakateeyaFabs. This facility is known for delivering high quality products at very competitive cost base. It is a reasonable size high quality manufacturing facility having more than 38 years of experience out of which more than 20 years in manufacturing of specialised cryogenic equipment besides power plant equipment and other equipment. The manufacturing of all process equipment/skids required by Airgases Projects is undertaken by this unit situated at a prime location in the port city of Vishakapattanam.

The total facility is spread over an area of 70,000sqft with most of that covered by hard standing flooring. Currently the facility has around 7000 sqft area covered shed and around 1300 sqft for office area.
This manufacturing facility is equipped with the latest design fabrication equipment, welding machines, machining equipment and required handling facilities. A portable temporary clean room can be created whenever required. The skills of fabrication team includes all kind of welding, be it MIG, TIG, submerged-arc or plasma-arc welding. The high quality welding is a specialty of KaakateyaFabs team which is capable of welding various materials including CS,SS, Aluminium, copper and monel etc. The team has excellent track record in assembly of equipment along with pipework. The unit is located in big industrial estate and thereby can make use of facilities available with other nearby fabrication units and other industries for work such as sheet metal, instrumentation and electrical work required to be done on process skids. The facility has required material handling facilities including gantry cranes and mobile cranes. Higher capacity cranes are hired as needed and the same is easily available nearby. This significantly reduces operating overhead cost of the company. The facility has its own grit blasting facility, pickling facility and cleaning facilities to oxygen standards.
The unit is approved by Lloyds Register/Bureau Veritas/Engineers India Ltd/ IBR/PESO (formerly CCOE)/TCE and several others for manufacture of pressure vessels and other process equipment.
